The Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) is pleased to announce the introduction of House Bill 6326 (HB 6326) by Representative John Roth. HB 6326 would provide for title transparency and protection, requiring all clinicians to use accurate titles that clearly communicate their qualifications to patients. The legislation would address a growing problem of practitioners with doctoral-level training, but not medical degrees, using unclear titles. Ensuring patients understand the entire health care team devoted to addressing their concerns improves trust in the overall health system.

The bill has been referred to the House Health Policy Committee, where it awaits further action. Physicians are encouraged to contact their representatives to urge support for this important legislation.
