Summary of the House of Delegates

House of Delegates

House of Delegates Final Report

MSMS held the House of Delegates virtually this past weekend.  Ninety delegates attended to review and vote on 55 resolutions and Board Action Reports.  The final report is here. Thank you to Bryan W. Huffman, MD, Speaker, and Mildred J. Willy, MD, Vice Speaker, for presiding over the sessions.

Reorganization Recommendations

The House overwhelmingly passed the recommendations of the Reorganization Task Force. They included:

  • Eliminating mandatory dual membership and chartering of county medical societies
  • Replacing the House of Delegates with an all-member, year-round policy forum
  • Reducing the size of the MSMS Board of Directors from 36 to 13 members, focusing on skill-based rather than representational governance
  • Eliminating the Judicial Commission and requirement that county medical societies maintain a peer review and ethics committee

These recommendations will modernize governance, improve efficiency and strengthen engagement across the organization.  They will allow MSMS to continue its current levels of advocacy, services, and activities for physicians.  MSMS appreciates the delegate's support of the reorganization efforts to ensure our long-term viability and success.

Elections

Paul D. Bozyk, MD, was elected as President Elect and Phillip G. Wise, MD, begins his term as President.  Congratulations to both.

Thank you to delegates and alternate delegates for participating in this year’s House.  More information to come on the new MSMS Policy Forum in 2027.
