Reorganization Update – Applications for Board of Directors Due by June 26

As a part of the Reorganization plan recently approved by the House of Delegates, the MSMS Board of Directors is transitioning from 36 members to 13.  The Board meets quarterly at MSMS headquarters in East Lansing.  The schedule is determined a year in advance. 

The application for the Board of Directors is open now through June 26, 2026.  Please visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MSMSBRD2026 to access and complete.  The Nominating Committee requests applicants share their experience with:

  • Governance and board effectiveness
  • Organizational change and strategic decision making
  • Financial understanding and business experience
  • Membership value, growth and engagement
  • Innovation and the future of health care
  • Advocacy and policy perspectives
  • Contribution and unique perspectives
  • Mission, vision and fiduciary responsibility

The Nominating Committee will put forth a slate of recommended candidates for a member vote from July 10 – July 25, 2026.  The first meeting of the new Board will take place on July 30, 2026. 

For members interested in MSMS policy, the new Policy Forum and Policy Committee will be rolled out in December.  This will include the resolution submission process, online forum, schedule and applications for the Policy Committee.  Committee appointments will be finalized in February.  The first cycle of resolutions will begin in March.
