Reorganization FAQ Videos and House of Delegates Reference Committees Continue

MSMS task force reorganization FAQs with Doctor Tom George

The 2026 House of Delegates is half-way through the Reference Committees. Please find several updates below.

New Reorganization FAQ Videos

MSMS has received many thoughtful questions regarding the reorganization efforts. New FAQ and affiliated videos are available for delegates and members on the Reorganization Plan and Recommendations to the House of Delegates.

As reported, the MSMS Task Force on Reorganization and the Board of Directors strongly believe changes are needed in order for MSMS to continue its current level of advocacy, service and activities for physicians.  These recommendations are data and research driven.  The changes have worked in other states and would position MSMS for long-term viability.

As these recommendations require Bylaws changes, they have been submitted to the House on April 18, 2026, for decision. They include:

  • Eliminating mandatory dual membership and chartering of county medical societies
  • Replacing the House of Delegates with an all-member, year-round policy forum
  • Reducing the size of the MSMS Board of Directors from 36 to 13 members, focusing on skill-based rather than representational governance
  • Eliminating the Judicial Commission and requirement that county medical societies maintain a peer review and ethics committee
