Recap: 152nd MSMS House of Delegates Meeting
The Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) House of Delegates held its 152nd meeting in Grand Rapids this past weekend. During her inaugural speech, MSMS President Cheryl Gibson Fountain, MD, quoted Ralph Waldo Emerson "the First Wealth is Health". He recognized "that good health is essential to the prosperity of the American people." Doctor Gibson Fountain continued discussing the importance of "access to high quality, affordable medical care. Without health, one cannot effectively learn or work productively."
Senator Debbie Stabenow honored Doctor Gibson Fountain's Presidency with a Congressional Certificate of honor. "For over 20 years, countless mothers and families in Grosse Pointe Park have relied on Cheryl Gibson Fountain as a trusted physician and advocate," said Senator Stabenow. "Now, patients all across Michigan can count on her tireless leadership as President of the Michigan State Medical Society. I am honored to congratulate Doctor Gibson Fountain on her new role and look forward to working with her to improve health care throughout our state."
In addition to electing and ushering in new leadership, delegates and alternate delegates voted Sunday to make policy and directives on a wide range of resolutions, including reimbursement, maintenance of certification, behavioral health, incentives, vaccinations, prior authorizations, and much more.
