Nomination Form for MSMS Board of Directors / Designated Director
The Michigan State Medical Society(MSMS) Board of Directors has six (6) Designated Director seats. The Designated Directors are elected by the House of Delegates representing specific constituencies and are identified by the Nominating Committee of the House of Delegates. As a Designated Director, physicians will bring the viewpoints, issues, and suggestions from MSMS members in the specified category. Thereby, giving voice to peers and help shape the direction of MSMS.
The first term of the current Board of Directors/Designated Directors ends at the 2023 House of Delegates. The positions include:
The MSMS Board of Directors responsibilities center around three duties:
- Duty of Care — Each board member has a legal responsibility to participate actively in making decisions on behalf of the organization and to exercise best judgment while doing so.
- Duty of Loyalty — Each board member must put the interests of the organization before personal and professional interests when acting on behalf of the organization in a decision-making capacity. The organization’s needs come first.
- Duty of Obedience — Board members bear the legal responsibility of ensuring that the organization complies with the applicable federal, state, and local laws and adheres to its mission.
Success metrics include:
- Attend 75 percent or greater of Board and Committee meetings, in person
- Personal contributions to MDPAC
- Trend of increased membership
- Facilitate and/or participate in meetings annually with groups within designated director categories (self-reported)
- Encourage MDPAC contributions by colleagues (self-reported)
