National Infant Immunization Week

National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW) is an annual observance recognized this year from April 21-28. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is encouraging parents across Michigan to ensure that their children receive their vaccinations on-time, every time, for optimal protection against serious diseases. NIIW highlights the importance of protecting children two years and younger from vaccine-preventable diseases. Global immunization efforts have saved an estimated 154 million lives – the majority of lives saved were infants (101 million). With an ongoing measles outbreak nationwide, it’s crucial now more than ever to ensure that Michigan residents particularly children, are up to date on all recommended immunizations.
