MSMS: What We’ve Accomplished — and What Comes Next

Dear Colleagues,

As the 160th President of the Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS), I am proud to share what we’ve achieved together this year — and how your support continues to shape the future of medicine in Michigan.

We stopped a 38 percent increase in liability insurance.

We blocked unsupervised practice of medicine by nurse practitioners.

We introduced Team-Based Care legislation to protect physician leadership.

We supported the Prescription Drug Affordability Board.

We led hearings on physician burnout and workforce challenges.

We expanded access to maternal health tools and opioid overdose treatments.

MSMS also launched free CME for members, resolved payer disputes saving physicians thousands, and strengthened our public health voice through monthly webinars and new partnerships.

Let’s keep the momentum going.
