MSMS-Nominated Physicians Appointed to Michigan Board of Medicine

The Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) celebrates the recent appointment of Rebecca Daniel, MD, and Cheryl Gibson Fountain, MD, to the Michigan Board of Medicine. 

The Board of Medicine oversees the practice of medicine in the state to protect public health, safety, and welfare. MSMS was proud to nominate Doctor Daniel and Doctor Gibson Fountain as their long-standing commitment to quality patient care, medical education, and enduring education support of this mission. These appointments reflect MSMS’s ongoing commitment to advancing physician leadership and supporting physician involvement in the regulatory oversight of medical practice in Michigan.

Doctor Daniel, of Ann Arbor, serves as the continuing medical education and transitional year program director at Trinity Health Ann Arbor. Doctor Gibson Fountain, of Grosse Pointe Park, is the medical director for clinical decision support at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.

In addition to the new MSMS-nominated appointees, MSMS extends congratulations to all physicians appointed or reappointed to the Board, including physician members Mustafa Mark Hamed, MD, Iltefat Hamzavi, MD, and Phillip Levy, MD, as well as public members Dondré Young and Cassy Jones-McBryde. Together, these leaders bring diverse perspectives from clinical practice, public health, academia, and community advocacy. All appointments will conclude December 31, 2029.
