MSMS MSS Winter Conference - January 18-20, 2019
The MSMS Medical Student Section is planning the 2nd Winter Conference for the weekend of January 18th-20th in Southeast Michigan. The event includes a Friday night physician networking/educational event, advocacy work, naloxone training, and policy discussions.
Based on the success from last year our tentative schedule is as follows:
Friday, January 18th - Educational Networking event
Speaker TBD but will address one of the new state educational requirements
Tentative Schedule
- 6 - 7 pm: strolling hors d'oeuvres with networking
- 7 - 8 pm: educational seminar
- 8 - 8:30 pm: presentation about MSS activities in 2018
Saturday, January 19th - Advocacy and Policy Conference at WSUSOM
Tentative Schedule
- 8 - 10 am: advocacy education focused on opioid epidemic
- 10 am - 12 pm: speakers discussing politics and medicine
- 12 - 1 pm: lunch
- 1 - 2 pm: MSS elections
- 2 - 5 pm: resolution workshop (includes explanation of HoD, mock HoD, and resolution writing)
- Other ideas currently considered for inclusion at the Winter Conference:
- Community service event

- MSMS Restructuring discussion
