MSMS Membership Dollars at Work
MSMS and your county medical society to fight tirelessly on your behalf. Over the last several weeks, MSMS has been able to activate physicians, physician organizations and hospital systems across the state to rally against dangerous changes to current medical liability laws. More than 5,500 letters were written by physicians through MSMS’s legislative platform to state representatives and senators. These letters addressed the impact the new legislation would have on physicians, their patients and overall health care in the state.
In a matter of weeks MSMS in conjunction with our legal counsel and advocacy staff were able to provide webinars to physician leaders in our state as well as our membership base on the importance of opposing the medical liability laws and how to advocate to your local legislators. We’ve also had leadership and staff present at both the House and Senate committee meetings providing testimony and using expertise to answer any questions. Staff and our lobby team have conducted numerous meetings and have lobbied endlessly to turn this in the right direction.
This example is one of many ways that MSMS supports our physician members. Advocacy like this requires many voices to make an impact. The work being done daily to coordinate, communicate and advocate is a heavy lift. A lift that requires many resources and dedicated staff time.
