The Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) continuously advocates for equitable, timely, and appropriate payment for physicians. When it comes to challenges that threaten your livelihood and ability to care for patients, MSMS is well-positioned to go to bat for members to help resolve those issues. MSMS staff provides reimbursement advocacy support through a variety of means including:

  • Regular meetings with Medicaid, Medicare, health plans, and health insurers.
  • Ongoing communications to MSMS members about key policy changes.
  • Exclusive access to personalized assistance with billing and coding questions and other reimbursement issues such as network status and payment delays and denials.
  • Identification of emerging systemic trends that threaten practice sustainability and follow-up with appropriate entities.
  • Submission of formal comments and testimony on proposed legislative and regulatory initiatives.
  • Provision of on-demand education courses (free to members) on billing and coding topics and strategies to enhance payments.
  • Development of tools and resources to assist physicians and other health care team members.

MSMS is committed to finding ways to make it easier for you to successfully practice while delivering the highest quality patient care.
