MSMS and WCMSSM Host First MOC Roundtable Discussion
On Wednesday, August 22, the Michigan State Medical Society, in partnership with Wayne County Medical Society of Southeast Michigan, hosted the first in a series of Maintenance of Certification (MOC) roundtable discussions between physician members and legislators. Intended to highlight legislation – House Bills 4134 and 4135 – that may be under consideration this fall, the event offered a unique opportunity for lawmakers to garner a more robust understanding of the pitfalls surrounding MOC and for physicians to dispel any myths or misleading information that may confound the issue. The bills would, among other things, prevent insurers from making MOC a condition of reimbursement. Learn more about MSMS’s MOC initiative at http://Right2Care.org; or, contribute to MDPAC.
Subsequent roundtable discussions are being planned in September and October throughout the state. If you have any questions about the roundtable series, please contact MSMS Director of State and Federal Government Relations Christin Nohner.
