The Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) Foundation, in partnership with Molina Healthcare of Michigan, Inc., will award scholarships to students enrolled in eligible healthcare training programs who demonstrate financial need, academic promise, and a commitment to community-based care.
This scholarship program was established to help address the shortage of healthcare professionals serving historically marginalized and underserved communities throughout Michigan.
Four scholarships in the amount of $10,000 each will be awarded as follows:
- Two scholarships for MD/DO medical students
- Two scholarships for Advanced Practice Provider (APP) students
Although recipients are not required to sign a post-graduation service contract, preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate a clear intent to practice in Michigan, particularly in underserved or provider shortage areas.
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must meet all of the following requirements at the time of application:
- Be currently enrolled in an accredited healthcare education program.
- Be enrolled as either:
- a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) student, or
- an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) student.
- Attend a qualifying Michigan-based program, school, or university.
- Demonstrate financial need through FAFSA or another approved standardized financial need metric.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to community-based care, clinical excellence, and service to underserved populations.
- Be eligible to receive scholarship funds under the policies of their academic institution.
