Metro Detroit Physician Leader Betty S. Chu Becomes President of Michigan State Medical Society

In her role as Chief Medical Officer at Henry Ford West Bloomfield, Doctor Chu is responsible for care oversight, working to ensure all patients are provided quality treatment in an efficient and effective manner. Doctor Chu also serves on the hospital’s leadership team contributing to the development and implementation of corporate strategy.

“The Michigan State Medical Society has always done an amazing job of helping physicians leverage their ability to make a positive impact on their community and the lives of their patients, and I am so proud to carry on that great work,” Doctor Chu said. “I look forward to the year ahead and working to advance our society’s mission to improve the lives of physicians and the patients we serve.”

Before joining the Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital, Doctor Chu served as President of the medical staff at Troy Beaumont Hospital. During that time, Doctor Chu was recognized for her leadership, being named to Crain’s Detroit Business’s “40 under 40” in 2010 in part for her commitment to improving communication between physicians and simplifying access to the clinical and administrative data on the hospital’s website.

Doctor Chu serves as a board member for the Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce and Walsh College School of Business. She is also a member of Michigan Delegation to the American Medical Association.
