MDPAC: The time to offer your support is now!
Often, the need for that unified voice is greatest in Lansing, at the state capital.
Year in and year out, state lawmakers consider and deliberate on policy and legislation with the potential to dramatically alter the medical landscape here in Michigan. In these situations, it is critical that physicians have a seat at the table. The Michigan Doctors' Political Action Committee (MDPAC) is often our voice when decisions are being made that have the potential to impact the health, safety, and wellbeing of Michiganders everywhere.
MDPAC's work couldn't be more important.
Just a few short years ago, the state legislature gave serious consideration to a dangerous bill that would have removed the common-sense requirement that a physician supervise anesthesia procedures in Michigan. Had this bill passed and been signed into law, it would have seriously threatened the health and safety of the patients we are committed to protecting.
Thankfully, MDPAC had the relationships and resources in place to highlight the dangers associated with this ill-conceived legislation. Through effective lobbying and effort on the political front, MDPAC succeeded in convincing enough lawmakers that education and training -- not legislation and law -- should determine the scope of a health care professional's practice.
There will always be a need to engage in fights like this one, and supporting MDPAC is the best way to ensure physicians and patients continue coming out on the winning side.
The time to offer your support is now. With the Election Day right around the corner, it's time to support the candidates who will keep medicine's best interest at heart. We hope you'll stand with us. Contribute to MDPAC today >>
