A Legacy of Leadership and Service: Remembering MSMS Past President, Peter A. Duhamel, MD, FACS

Peter A. Duhamel, MD, FACS, past president and former chair, of the Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS), leaves behind an extraordinary legacy that equals his contributions to the medical field. His leadership not only profoundly impacted the lives of those he served but also guided MSMS, leaving an indelible mark on the future of medicine and health care in Michigan.

Throughout his distinguished career, Doctor Duhamel held numerous roles within the Michigan State Medical Society, the Oakland County Medical Society and the American Medical Association demonstrating his unwavering dedication and leadership in advancing the medical profession at every level.  He was also President of the MSMS Foundation, President of the Oakland County Medical Society, President of the American Society of General Surgeons and active in the AMA’s Hospital Medical Staff Section.

His leadership was not limited to the boardroom. As a dedicated physician, Doctor Duhamel led a successful general surgery practice in Rochester, while maintaining deep roots in his community.
