Grand Rounds Live Webinar Series: Understanding and Applying the Latest Cervical Cancer Screening Guidelines*
Join us Wednesday, January 14, from 12:00 – 12:45 pm, to hear from Diane M. Harper MD, MPH, MS, Professor, University of Michigan, American Cancer Society Research Scholar, Fulbright Cervical Cancer Prevention Specialist and Thomas John Bender, MD, PhD, Medical Director, Bay County Health Department, Bay City, Michigan as they discuss the latest in cervical cancer screening guidelines.
This presentation reviews modern cervical cancer screening by first establishing the fundamental role and current U.S. epidemiology of HPV infection in cervical cancer development. The core focus is a critical evaluation of screening modalities, comparing the benefits and harms of traditional co-testing (HPV and cytology) versus primary HPV testing, and assessing optimal triage reflex options, such as the diagnostic utility of CINtec Plus (p16/Ki-67 dual stain) compared to conventional cytology for both self-sampling and in-office exams. Finally, the session provides actionable knowledge for integrating primary HPV testing and leveraging self-sampling techniques to overcome patient barriers, improve acceptance, and increase overall screening completion rates in daily clinical practice.
