Coding Webinars: CPT/ICD-10 Updates for 2022 and Medical Decision Making: Understanding What Counts

On Thursday, December 9, 2021, the MSMS Foundation is holding a full day of coding webinars presented by Jill Young, CPC, CEDC, CIMC via live webinar.

CPT/ICD-10 Updates for 2022 - Webinar

Each year the American Medical Association (AMA) releases revisions and additions to the CPT codes.  Looking at what to expect in 2022:

  • New codes to report therapeutic remote monitoring
  • New codes for “Principal Care Management”
  • New codes and a formal listing of mid-year release of codes for vaccine products

The ICD-10-CM coding system also sees changes and revisions each year. Highlights for 2022 include:

  • A new code and new guidelines for COVID-19
  • A significant change to “depression” coding
  • Clarifications for coding Social Determinants of Health (SDOH)

Medical Decision Making: Understanding What Counts - Webinar

1:00 – 4:00 pm

The changes to Office/Other Outpatient Services that occurred for 2021 should have had a significant effect on physician documentation in the office setting.  But did it really for your practice?  Is your physician still using templates for Review of Systems and Physical Exams?  Are they still wasting valuable time with documentation that is no longer required at the level they are documenting?

This session will not only cover the new Medical Decision-Making methodology for selecting the level of code but will also discuss tips and tools to use to help physicians be more succinct in their documentation.  This will not only give them compliant documentation but will also help them to shorten the time it takes to complete the recording of services in the patient’s record.

We will walk through real case examples to help you understand the steps in the process and how documentation should change to achieve the new requirements for 2022.

If you have cases you would like to go over in this session, please send de-identified notes to Stacie Saylor, MSMS Reimbursement Advocate, by Friday, December 3, 2021.

Please remove all identifying information of the patient and practice. All that is needed is the documentation of the visit.
