The Doctors Company (TDC) has completed its acquisition of ProAssurance Corporation, officially securing its position as the number one writer of medical professional liability coverage for physicians and surgeons by direct premium.
Following the merger, the combined organization leverages expanded resources and deeper expertise to enhance its advocacy on behalf of the medical profession. TDC maintains its foundational mission to advance, protect, and reward the practice of good medicine, building on its established reputation for defending physicians both in and out of court.
As an exclusively endorsed key agency with TDC, the Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) Physicians Insurance Agency (PIA) can provide comprehensive coverage quotes. Eligible MSMS members can secure a 5 percent premium discount if they have a favorable claims history, alongside a claims-free credit reaching up to 25 percent.
Physicians who prefer their current medical malpractice policy can maintain their existing coverage while transitioning group service to PIA through a standard agent-of-record designation. This arrangement allows medical groups to receive specialized MSMS customer service while directly supporting the broader advocacy and operational work of MSMS.
