ASGE: Colorectal Cancer Screening; the Right Test for Your Risk
Nearly one in three adults in the US aren’t getting screened for colon cancer as recommended. Yet, colon cancer has a 90% survival rate when detected early. The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) has embarked on an educational campaign to raise awareness among primary care physicians and patients on the importance of appropriate screening, particularly, using the appropriate screening test for the risk group each patient is in.
It’s important that physicians continue helping patients understand their risk for colorectal cancer and guide them through screening options, which very much depends on the patient’s background.
Please consider helping to spread awareness about the importance of routine colorectal cancer screening. We encourage all physicians and health care professionals to use these materials in their practice to ensure that patients and the public understand their risk factors and learn which tests may be right for them.
