AMA Announces John Whyte, MD, MPH, as New CEO and Executive Vice President

The American Medical Association (AMA) has announced John Whyte, MD, MPH, as its next Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer.

Doctor Whyte brings an impressive blend of clinical, governmental, and corporate leadership to the helm of the AMA. A board-certified internist with nearly three decades of practice. He brings with him valuable experience from his role as Chief Medical Officer at WebMD, where he served with distinction since 2018.

An AMA member since 1989, a former delegate within its House of Delegates and according to Michael Suk, MD, JD, MPH, MBA and AMA Board Chair, “Doctor Whyte is an exceptionally qualified and proven leader. He possesses a deep and nuanced understanding of the AMA’s mission, governance, and evolving role in American medicine—qualities that will ensure both continuity and meaningful progress as we move forward.”
