Food allergies show up in every kind of practice, not just the allergist’s office. Primary care physicians, pediatricians, emergency physicians, and specialists all see patients who ask about a reaction, a test result, or whether a food is safe to try again. On November 12, 2026, George Freigeh, MD, MA, will offer practical guidance for those conversations in his session, Food Allergy for the Non-Allergist.
Doctor Freigeh is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Michigan Medicine, with appointments in the Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and the Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. Because he cares for both adults and children, he brings a broad perspective on how food allergy appears across a patient’s lifetime. Whatever your specialty, you will leave better prepared to recognize, manage, and refer food allergy patients.
Doctor Freigeh’s presentation is part of an afternoon focused on allergy and immunology. Mariel Benjamin, MD, of Michigan Medicine will discuss drug allergy diagnosis, management, and why accurate labeling matters. Sanjay Modi, MD, of Allergy and Asthma Associates of Michigan will cover urticaria and its inducible and non-inducible subtypes.
These sessions are part of a three-day lineup of clinical updates, license renewal education, and bioethics education taking place November 12–14, 2026, at the Four Points by Sheraton Detroit Novi. Flexible single- or multi-day registration allows you to select the education most relevant to your practice.
