Whether it’s advocating on legislation, addressing payment concerns with health plans and insurers, or making sure physicians are represented, the MSMS Advocacy team is working on your behalf. The following are some recent highlights:
- Continued communications with BCBSM on their proposed modifier 25 policy which was ultimately paused indefinitely.
- Urged strengthened oversight of the No Surprises Act by the federal government in regard to health plans that are circumventing the Act’s intent via a joint letter to the Secretaries and Acting Secretary of the U.S. Departments of Treasury, Health and Human Services, and Labor.
- Provided a forum, via the MSMS Physician Organization Council meeting, for PO leaders to meet with Anita Fox, Director of the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS), about services and assistance available through DIFS.
- Represented MSMS at six meetings with legislators, a meeting with a member of the Governor’s staff, a meeting with the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs on House Bill 5313, and at Health Policy committee hearings to monitor developments, provide expertise, and advocate for physician and patient priorities across a range of policy issues.
- Engaged with BCBSM, Michigan Medicaid, Health Alliance Plan, and Priority Health on timely issues of concern to physicians.
- Along with leaders from the Great Lakes Physician Organization, met with officials from Medicaid to discuss reimbursement for the Collaborative Care Model.
