Advocacy In Action
The MSMS Advocacy Division works to ensure the voice of Michigan physicians is at the forefront when legislators, regulators, and insurers are considering actions that impact the profession, the physician-patient relationship, and the ability to deliver high quality health care. Each month we will be highlighting some of the previous month’s activities that have kept MSMS staff working hard on your behalf. Below are highlights from January and February 2025.

- MSMS is a co-signer on joint letters from the Protect Michigan Medicaid Coalition and State Medical Association CEOs in support of preserving access to health care for Medicaid beneficiaries.
- MSMS initiated a grassroots advocacy campaign to oppose Medicaid cuts.
- MSMS posted two new legal alerts, What Physicians Need to Know About Immigration Enforcement at Medical Offices and Facilities and Creditors’ Rights for Medical Practices Following Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Filing.
- MSMS launched a new monthly public health webinar series to present up-to-date information on current public health issues. The first event was held on March 13, 2025, at Noon and featured the state's Chief Medical Executive, Natasha Bagdasarian, MD, MPH, FIDSA, FACP.
