The MSMS Legislative Update, which recaps activity over the past twelve months on key issues being actively monitored or influenced by MSMS during the current legislative session, is now available. The 2025 year-end wrap-up provides a snapshot of meaningful physician engagement at the Capitol during a period of significant change in health policy.
Throughout 2025, MSMS worked to ensure physicians had a strong, respected voice in Lansing as lawmakers considered legislation affecting patient safety, workforce sustainability, scope of practice, licensing reform, and access to care. The report reflects MSMS’s continued commitment to advancing physician-led, team-based care and protecting the integrity of the medical profession.
The update also outlines key advocacy priorities and progress, including efforts to address physician burnout, reduce stigma in licensure, modernize outdated regulatory requirements, and expand access to treatment for opioid use disorder.
