Michigan State Medical Society Health Equity Roadmap for Change
In 2021, the Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) made the elimination of health disparities and the advancement of health equity a long-term strategic priority. This commitment led to the formation of the MSMS Task Force to Advance Health Equity, which has guided actionable strategies to address racism, implicit bias, and structural inequities in health care. Supported by a W.K. Kellogg Foundation planning grant, MSMS launched the Partnering to Advance Health Equity initiative and convened three regional health equity summits in 2023 to foster collaboration, learning, and community partnership. Building on these efforts, MSMS is advancing a multi-year Health Equity Roadmap for Change to guide internal and external actions that promote equity and improve health outcomes for all Michigan residents.
