On behalf of: St. Clair County Delegation
Committee: A (Medical Care Delivery)
Resolved Section(s):
RESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask the AMA to investigate the performance of the Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) program and issue a white paper regarding the execution and management of PQRI by Medicare.RATIONALE: The Committee recognized that the AMA has existing policy on Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) and has surveyed and publicly reported on its shortcomings. Additionally, the Medical Group Managers Association has done the same. The Committee discussed the need to identify alternative ways in which to document physicians’ quality performance. In the past, MSMS and the Medical Advantage Group (MAG) have pursued with federal Congressional and regulatory officials the possibility of utilizing data from Michigan-based quality initiatives such as the BCBSM Physicians Group Incentive Program (PGIP) instead of reporting PQRI separately. Therefore, the Committee agreed that the spirit of the resolution was already being met by these other activities.
