RESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the American Medical Association (AMA) urge our AMA to engage with stakeholders including, but not limited to, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, National Highway Traffic Safety Commission, and interested state medical societies, to make recommendations on standardized vision requirements and cognitive testing, when applicable, for unrestricted and restricted driver’s licensing privileges; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That MSMS work with the American Medical Association (AMA) in any efforts by our AMA to seek stakeholder engagement to address standardized vision requirements and cognitive testing, when applicable, for unrestricted and restricted driver’s licensing privileges. MSMS shall communicate any resulting recommendations to the Michigan Secretary of State legislative liaison, Michigan legislators serving on committees with oversight of transportation issues, and other stakeholders as appropriate.
