On behalf of: St. Clair County Delegation

Resolved Section(s):
RESOLVED: That MSMS work with the state of Michigan to enact legislation for tax credits to physicians treating uninsured and underinsured patients; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA urge the AMA to work with the federal government to enact legislation for tax credits to physicians treating uninsured and underinsured patients.RATIONALE: The Committee agreed with the notion of giving physicians an incentive for providing care to patients who lack the ability to pay. However, the Committee was uncomfortable with the term “indigent” as it may not be broad enough. The terms uninsured and underinsured would include all of those persons who lack proper access to health care.
