RESOLVED: That MSMS encourage state and county governments to actively promote safe sleeping practices for infants in a systematic and regular communication with families, physicians, and health care providers; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That MSMS encourage hospital newborn nurseries to systematically educate all new parents about the importance of safe sleeping practices for infants; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That MSMS routinely educate its members about current thinking regarding safe sleeping practices for infants; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That MSMS ask leading manufacturers of infant sleep products to engage in efforts to educate consumers about safe sleeping practices for infants; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask the AMA to actively engage in efforts to promote safe sleeping practices for infants.RATIONALE: Current AMA and MSMS Policy and Activity.
