RESOLVED: That MSMS lobby the state of Michigan to object to storage of nuclear waste by states and provinces within the Great Lakes Basin area in a manner which threatens to contaminate the Great Lakes; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That MSMS ask the AMA to advocate on a federal level and to object to storage of nuclear waste by states and provinces within the Great Lakes Basin area in a manner which threatens to contaminate the Great Lakes.REFERENCE COMMITTEE RATIONALE: There was a great deal of testimony in favor of the intent of this resolution. The Committee’s amendments broaden the intent of this resolution beyond affecting Canada only, and expands the resolution to include all states and provinces in the Great Lakes Basin area.
