RESOLVED: That MSMS advocate a clear, non-ambiguous message condemning the use of anabolic steroids by athletes; and be it further RESOLVED: That MSMS encourage the Michigan High School Athletic Association toeducate student athletes as to the potential complications and risks from using anabolic steroids; and be it further RESOLVED: That MSMS seek legislation requiring the Michigan High School AthleticAssociation to randomly test student athletes for the use of non-prescribed anabolic steroids; and be it further RESOLVED: That student athletes testing positive for the use of non-prescribedanabolic steroids be counseled and not allowed to return to athletic competition without negative testing for anabolic steroids.RATIONALE: The word “adolescent” was removed to broaden the proposed policy. The word “randomly” was added to simplify the process while maintaining the goal of deterring steroid use.
