RESOLVED: That MSMS work with the AMA and other member medical sub-specialty societies including the College of American Pathologists, American College of Physicians, American Academy of Family Physicians, American Society for Clinical Pathology, and American Clinical Laboratory Association to maintain awareness of the proposed requirement for signatures for diagnostic laboratory test requisitions and its implications, as it may arise again in the future; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That the MSMS and the AMA state their support for the decision by CMS to retract regulations requiring signatures for diagnostic laboratory test requisitions, as being beneficial for patients and physiciansRATIONALE: The Committee appreciates that the policy has already been rescinded by CMS, but still believes it is important to have policy on this issue.
