RESOLVED: Once a clean claim has been submitted, payments after 90 days should require the insurance company to pay the average interest rate charged by VISA and Master Card. REFERENCE COMMITTEE RATIONALE: The Committee noted that Michigan’s timely payment laws already address this issue and provide for a 45-day timeframe versus the 90-day timeframe proposed in the resolution. Additionally, MSMS Legal Alerts describe the current timely payment laws and are available to members at no cost.
