RESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask the AMA to encourage the Food and Drug Administration to require all over-the-counter supplements claiming to alter or regulate body function to provide data substantiating all claims made before being made available for sale; and be it further RESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask the AMA to encourage theFood and Drug Administration to require all over-the-counter supplements provide data proving they are safe in humans before being made available for sale.RATIONALE: The amendment was offered as a clarification of the author’s original intent based on his testimony and the initial portion of the resolution. This is consistent with multiple existing American Medical Association policies.
