RESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask the AMA to seek federal legislation requiring health insurance companies including Medicare and Medicaid to publicly post data regarding time intervals between the moment a claim is declared clean and delivery of payment to the physician; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask the AMA to seek federal legislation requiring data on payment intervals be made available publicly in aggregate form for research and planning purposes RATIONALE: The Committee noted that existing laws and AMA and MSMS policies support timely payment. The Committee did not believe that public posting of payment intervals would affect or add significantly to the assurance of timely payment.
