RESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask the AMA to pursue federal legislation and/or regulations to keep data linked to physicians private and protected; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask the AMA to work with federal authorities to establish federal statutes directing various organizations for a prompt and efficient response to data breach episodes involving privacy data of physicians.RATIONALE: The Committee noted that there is existing AMA policy related to the BCBSA data breach. However, they agreed that the issue of privacy protections for physician information should be addressed legislatively, thereby prompting the amendatory language in the first resolved.
