RESOLVED: That MSMS oppose economic credentialing wherein physicians are denied participation in a plan or provider organization due solely to the total cost of care provided to their patients and when no attempt is made to determine the quality of the care or adherence to sound guidelines; and be it further RESOLVED: That MSMS seek legislation prohibiting the exclusion of physicians from participation in a health insurance plan or provider organization through economic credentialing, determined solely by the total cost of care provided to patients without an assessment of the quality of that care.RATIONALE: MSMS has already developed legislation to prohibit economic credentialing and will aggressively pursue passage of the legislation.
