Resolved Section(s):
RESOLVED: That MSMS seek legislation that would prohibit pharmacies from providing physician-specific prescribing data to pharmaceutical companies and other non-regulatory entities that are not involved in an individual patient’s care.RATIONALE: The AMA Physician Data Restriction Program (PDRP) offers physicians, on an individual basis, the opportunity to restrict their prescribing data from pharmaceutical sales representatives. This PDRP is available to AMA members and non-members. Therefore, a mechanism has already been established that prohibits pharmacies from providing physician-specific prescribing data.
