RESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask the AMA to mandate that health plans reward patients for using physicians that practice evidence-based medicine; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask the AMA to seek alternate models to “pay for performance” that would encourage physicians to practice quality medicine and cut costs while being reimbursed adequately and the patients to seek out cost-effective care.RATIONALE: The AMA and MSMS are already discussing the issue of pay for performance, so the issues raised in the resolution can be incorporated into those efforts.
