RESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask the AMA to work with the American Hospital Association to require the equitable treatment of all specialties; and be it further RESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA work with the AMA to require that if a hospital pays one specialty for in-house coverage, it be mandated to pay other specialties for in-house house coverage.REFERENCE COMMITTEE RATIONALE: The presenter of the resolution requested that the Committee replace the term “pay” with “compensate.” The Committee elected to retain the original language. Because “compensate” is not defined, there was concern that it could be subject to broad interpretation by hospital administrators who might not choose to equate compensation as financial payment.
