Resolution Number: 79
Action Taken: Referred to the Board
Status:
Author(s): Federico G. Mariona, MD
Sponsor: Federico G. Mariona, MD
On behalf of: Wayne County Delegation
Committee: B (Legislation)
Resolved Section(s):
RESOLVED: That MSMS work with the Michigan Department of Community Health, the office of highway safety planning, the legislature, and other already designated commissions and committees to advocate for immediate and appropriate funding to bring a Michigan Trauma System to fruition. REFERENCE COMMITTEE RATIONALE: The Committee agrees with the spirit of Resolution 79-09A that asks MSMS to advocate for funding of a regional trauma system in Michigan. The Committee was made aware that there has been a considerable amount of activity on this subject in the past within the legislature and by regulators. However, opposition to this proposal remains primarily from individual hospitals. The Committee believes that both the question of funding and the underlying premise of trauma regionalization would benefit from further study.
