RESOLVED: That the state of Michigan exercise its authority over Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and use the interest payments derived from the two billion dollars in the loss reserve account to provide the forty million dollars in revenue to correct the current shortfall in the state Medicaid budget and fund the Medicaid program so that BCBSM would "promote the public health" and "protect the health of the state of Michigan” as stated in MCL 500.301:MSA 24.591.RATIONALE: The Committee was concerned about supporting certain aspects of the resolution that was not able to be verified at this time. Therefore, this resolution will benefit from additional review and research by the Board.
