On behalf of: Kent County Delegation

Committee: E (Science & Education Affairs)

Resolved Section(s):
RESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask the AMA to oppose the FDA’s rigid schedule of vision testing for patients with Vigabatrin, but to favor instead a recommendation that physicians prescribing Vigabatrin arrange follow-up testing of vision as clinically appropriate. RATIONALE: The Committee heard conflicting testimony regarding the mandatory ophthalmologic testing for patients on Vigabatrin. This was considered as a friendly amendment by the author of the resolution.
