Author(s): R. Paul Clodfelder, MD

Sponsor: Domenic R. Federico, MD

On behalf of: Kent County Delegation

Committee: E (Science & Education Affairs)

Resolved Section(s):
RESOLVED: That MSMS work with the Michigan legislature to require mandatory drivers’ license testing on an annual basis after age 75.RATIONALE: The Committee recognized the good intentions of this resolution, however, believed that the resolution may have consequences that are not financially feasible and has concerns regarding the use of age as a discriminating factor. The Committee believed basing restrictions on driver impairments in general, rather than solely on age, might better carry out the intent of the resolution.
