RESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask the AMA to declare health care reform without tangible tort reform impossible; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask the AMA to work steadfastly to include tort reform in any future health care reform proposals and negotiations.RATIONALE: The Committee expressed a great deal of frustration in the inability of the AMA to secure a fix to the Sustainable Growth Rate and include medical liability reform as part of the federal health care reform. The Committee agreed that true health care reform cannot be accomplished without addressing medical liability as an underlying driver of health care costs.
