On behalf of: St. Clair County Delegation
Committee: A (Medical Care Delivery)
Resolved Section(s):
RESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask that our AMA work with the federal government to make it legal to charge cash paying patients a negotiated rate by physicians.RATIONALE: The Committee believed that this was a non-issue, as physicians already have the ability to make financial arrangements with cash paying patients. They did not want the government interfering in these arrangements. Instead, the Committee recognized that this would be good topic for the “Ask Your Lawyer” column in Michigan Medicine, as well as in other MSMS communications vehicles.
