RESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the AMA ask the AMA to collaborate with the American Academy of Family Physicians and other primary care organizations to support their work in communicating the appropriate attributes for retail health clinics to the retail health clinic corporations and continue discussions regarding incorporating these attributes into the business operations; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That MSMS enter into discussions with the Michigan Department of Community Health and other necessary parties to develop guidelines that define appropriate standards for health clinics in retail stores; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That MSMS strongly object to the use of retail stores as a substitute for quality, preventive primary care.RATIONALE: The Committee believed the substitute resolution maintains the intent of both resolutions.
