RESOLVED: That MSMS formally commend graduate medical education programs that provide membership for house staff to participate in MSMS and county medical societies; and be it furtherRESOLVED: That MSMS encourage graduate medical education programs to offer schedule protection for physicians in training to attend local, state, and national meetings in organized medicine as able, without impact on a trainee’s vacation bank.REFERENCE COMMITTEE RATIONALE: The Committee was supportive of this resolution; however, it felt that the third resolved, which asked MSMS to provide free AMA resident memberships, would not achieve the intended outcomes and was lacking the necessary criteria to determine the recipients.
